MPI for a country is computed by multiplying the percentage of population that is multidimensionally poor with the average intensity of MPI across the poor. MPI measures poverty at the individual level together with the intensity of the deprivations. Deprivation is measured in three different dimensions, namely education, health and living standards. A person is assessed to be in multidimensional poverty if the total weighted deprivations or the deprivation score equals 1/3.
